Sorbus commixta
5th January, 2013
The sorbus (Mountain Ash) are a lovely and much underused Genus of tree, although strictly speaking the Mountain ash are only really of the "Aucuparia" group, though many of the species are included in this so its easier just to refer to them all as Mountain Ash instead of getting too hung up on technicalities. Sorbus aria and its varieties are commonly known as "Whitebeam" and look nothing like the Aucuparias having large single leaves with vivid white tomentose undersides.
***Posh word alert*** Tomentose; Fluffy.
